Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bogus purchases have been reported from iTunes users in recent weeks. While many of the account holders are blaming Apple or PayPal, this widespread fraud problem cannot be blamed on a software security flaw, but rather the iTunes users themselves.

Instead, they are using old-fashioned phishing scams to gain access to iTunes users’ login credentials to perpetrate fraud. Apple suggests that users who have been targeted change the passwords of their iTunes accounts and contact their financial institutions immediately.
