Con artists are using Habitat for Humanity’s well-known status and good reputation to trick job seekers into divulging personal information and becoming victims of identity fraud. Criminals are sending out recruitment emails claiming that Habitat for Humanity will pay between $300 and $500 per week to new employees in this new job scam. The email notes that in order to apply, the applicant must provide personal information. This information can then be sold to other scam artists anywhere in the world to steal identities.
The email also asks the applicant to collect donations on behalf of Habitats for Humanity and then send the money to a specific address. This money goes to the scammers instead of helping the charity. To read more about this Habitat for Humanity scam, visit WYFF4.com.
