Grandma Scam Alert

What would you do for an extra $5,000 in your pocket? Scammers are willing to try all sorts of things, including making a detailed report about you through your social media profiles and using that report to try to convince relatives that you are being held hostage and need immediate money. This article details how grandparents were duped into thinking that their grandson needed money to be released from Mexico.

If you happen to receive a call from someone claiming to know or be your relative, ask them very specific things which only they would know. If you’re active on sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter keep personal details out of your life. People don’t need to know them and they could be used against you.
