Delaware Lottery Scam

Delaware residents are being warned about thieves who are attempting to impersonate the Delaware Lottery in a new scam. The scammers are emailing their victims and claiming they have won the lottery sponsored and promoted by the Delaware State Government. In order to collect winnings, the email tells the victim that he must contact a "clearance officer." Next, the victim is told he must pay taxes and/or fees on the winnings. This money must be sent via wire transfer in order to collect the lottery money. Once the phony "tax" money is wired, the victim never receives the money or hears from the lottery scam artist again.

The thieves are going to great lengths to convince people that the Delaware lottery scam is legitimate. The fraud uses official Delaware Lottery logo, letterhead and even forges the Delaware Lottery Director’s signature. Learn how to avoid being a victim of this ripoff at DelawareOnline.com.
