Emails with shocking and intriguing subject lines indicating dire news about popular celebrities are rapidly being distributed by scammers. These hoax emails have subjects like "Oprah in fatal car accident" or "Beyonce dead" so the recipient is more likely to open it. The emails contain a message saying that a celebrity, along with a number of others, has died in a gruesome manner. The celebrity scam email then asks the recipient to open the attachment to read more details about the accident.
The email attachment contains a virus that hides in HTML or a zipped file that carries malware, both used to gain access to computers and steal personal information.
