Avoid Falling Victim to a Car Donation Scam

If you’re considering donating your car to charity, be sure to do your research beforehand. Some fraudulent organizations are claiming that they are a genuine non-profit charity which accepts vehicles as a form of donation. The scam organization receives multiple car donations and the vehicles are sold off at wholesale auctions. Instead of the money from the cars being donated to charity, the profits are pocketed – no charity receives any money and the scam organization is never heard from again. Most donators don’t even realize that they have been scammed until afterwards when they attempt to get their tax forms.

To avoid becoming of a victim of this charity scam, always check to see if the organization is registered. Also, also be wary of solicitors as it is common that fake charitable organizations rely on high-pressured sales tactics to convince consumers to donate.
